Sony DVM cassettes utilize an advanced pure cobalt thin-film evaporated tape with a special DLC Diamond-Like Carbon protective layer to achieve a resolution of 500 lines - 100 lines greater than the resolution offered by standard Hi8 and S-VHS recording.
